A two-hour flight from Reykjavik will take you to Greenland’s beautiful east coast, home of the Ammassalik Inuit. Kulusuk is the gateway to East Greenland, and the small settlement is an excellent introduction to the way of life in a settlement in the Ammassalik area.
Kulusuk lies on a small rocky island between saw-toothed mountains and extensive fjords, and it is almost always surrounded by icebergs and a glittering Arctic ocean. In Kulusuk you will find some of the east coast’s most skillful craftsmen, whose tupilaks are of exceptional quality. Traditional hunting and fishing are still essential sources of income for many families in the settlement.
Optional excursions available, only bookable and payable at the front desk of Hotel Kulusuk.

Important: Trips to Greenland are always subject to weather conditions. Delays and flight cancellations can happen. Therefore we strongly recommend you to buy travel insurance in the country of residence that would cover any additional travel expenses, should your flights be delayed or cancelled due to weather. We recommend not to book any international flight directly after a trip from Greenland; ideally staying minimum two nights in Iceland after the Greenland trip to avoid the risk of missing an international flight.
A 2-hour flight from Reykjavik domestic airport (not Keflavik) takes you to beautiful East Greenland. Just before landing in Kulusuk watch out for the pack ice on the ocean along with the sight of the snow-covered mountains. Welcome to spectacular East Greenland. Upon arrival, a hotel representative transfers you (5-minute walk) to the 3-star Hotel Kulusuk where you spend the night.
Optional day excursions can be booked directly at the hotel, subject to availability and weather conditions. Maybe you are inspired to take a boat trip to the Apusiajik glacier only a few miles from the village. With some luck, you might witness the glacier calve. From Hotel Kulusuk it is a 45-minute walk to the small and simple village of Kulusuk (6 km roundtrip walk), where you can get a glimpse of life in an arctic settlement and see the small local church and tiny museum.
